Finca Gualiva

WhereNext Travel Exclusive: Agrotourism Villa and Private Forest Reserve With Swimming Pool Just Two Hours From Bogotá

Escape to the tranquility of Finca Gualiva, our freshly renovated agritourism villa near Sasaima, Cundinamarca, just two hours from Bogotá. Under new ownership as of 2024, “Gualiva” means “the way home” in Panche, the language of the Indigenous people who inhabited the region prior to the Spanish conquest.

This ecological gem is nestled in a valley among majestic mountains and two rivers, inviting you to unwind in its lush gardens and explore coffee, cacao, and tropical fruit plantations. The property features several kilometers of nature trails that loop through a pristine rainforest and along the Gualiva River, offering private river access for moments of peace and contemplation. Wake up to the birdsong of over 50 recorded species—many of which can be seen from the back terrace alone—it’s a paradise for nature enthusiasts.

Relax in the solar-heated private pool and sip boutique coffee from neighboring farms. Our experienced staff is dedicated to ensuring an unforgettable experience.

The owners are committed to protecting three hectares of the property as a private reserve of virgin mid-altitude Andean rainforest, ensuring that Finca Gualiva’s natural beauty remains untouched.

In Colombia, a finca, originally meaning "farm," has evolved into a rural retreat—akin to a European villa or American ranch. Once exclusive to the Colombian elite, fincas offer a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities for owners and their guests.

Accommodation: The villa features three bedrooms—two with queen-size beds and a third bedroom that accommodates up to four guests with a queen-size bed, a single bed, and a single bunk bed.

Maximum capacity: 8 guests

Facilities and services: The property offers complimentary fruit from the citrus orchard, 5 hectares of gardens and a mid-altitude rainforest reserve, two rivers, an infinity swimming pool, binoculars for birdwatching, and high-speed Starlink WiFi.

Staff included: Cleaning staff, a cook, maintanence personnel.

Food and beverage: The package includes a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu to be selected prior to your stay, snacks, and an alcohol menu available upon request.

Minimum night requirement: 2 nights

Climate: Located at 1,200 meters in altitude, Finca Gualiva is blessed with an annual average daytime temperature of 80 degrees with occasional rain showers typical of a mid-altitude Andean rainforest.

The Birders Show Visits Finca Gualiva

The Birders Show recently traveled to Finca Gualiva to discover the birds of the Colombian Eastern Andes. The trip was far from the show’s usual bushwhacking birding adventures - most of the species were seen from the pool and the hammock!
